Ok, just partly and especially Straw Version 0.22.1 which I wanted to emerge on my fresh Gentoo 2004.0 notebook. From the website: The software requires Python 2.2 or higher, Gtk+ 2.2, GNOME 2.2, libglade 2.0, PyGTK 2.0 or later (you do not need to build with threads enabled anymore), gnome-python 2.0 or later, orbit-python (or with newer gnome-python, pyorbit) and Sleepycat Software's Berkeley DB 3 or DB 4 and the Python bindings for it. The ADNS library and the corresponding Python binding are highly recommended for smoother operation, but Straw will work without them. If you were previously running version 0.21.2 or older, you also need mxDateTime to convert your database when you run a new version for the first time. However, new users do not need it. I mean that is dependency hell and thats exactly the reason why I do not like Python in its current form. Back in the days *sigh* when Zope was really a creapy thing, Python was clean tidy and the reason to use Zope anyway. But now with all that bloat it is no real fun anymore. A serious application written in Python is a major mistake. Who in his right mind installs all that dependencies just to read news? Thats for it. I'll go back to 0.19 because straw is still cool....
