people don't realize how hindering all these automatic and uncontrollable functions in devices can become. For instance, some users of a software I am working on reported slow performance when they use it in low light. It turns out all of them use MacBooks with iSight cameras. When in low light the camera tries to do some magic. Why! There is nothing you control in the camera, there is also nothing the camera can do about the light - there is just none. For all this the pure camera capture processing time jumps from 5ms to 70ms. Additionally this sends the fans in overdrive ... a very bad user experience. |
