The new XTRA plans seems to create a bit of a stir in the local broadband market. It only can be good thing if this, slightly delicate, topic been talked about. The government is really pushing hard to support the local IT industry. You might have some reservation about the methods. But it is hard to believe that a country with a significant CG industry (not only WETA) and is so remote can afford itself such a horrible network infrastructure.

Personally, I'll probably up to the "Go Large" (wow, what a marketing team) plan, even with the traffic shaping. Either I or Telecom will quickly learn that it doesn't work. 1GB/month at the moment is clearly pathetic, even if we have a "home-policy" of not using YouTube. But, I just remembered that in November I'll be in the house for a year, so it might be time to switch provider. Fortunately, in Christchurch we have plenty of choice.

It is only a webcam, a nice one though, but it is a webcam. Please let me download a driver that only and really only lets my webcam capture the video and pictures. Why on earth do I need an installer with 79MByte?
