Yes, partly this is comparing apple and oranges. But! After a while using iTunes I went back to Coolplayer. Comparing both with some stuff from The Verbrilli Sound revealed that listening in iTunes is like holding a sheet of cardboard between your ears. I am by no means an audiophile but my weak ears could easily recognize the difference in dynamic range. Despite that: a whopping 35MByte in memory for iTunes and 8MByte for Coolplayer. For organizing music iTunes is great, but for listening Coolplayer is first choice.

Slashdot runs a story about changing jobs. Apparently, I worked in an environmental care company (read it as garbage collectors) nine years ago (out of greed and self experience) and earned twice as much there than I get now as a PhD here. I respect their work and it is just fair that they get paid higher but honestly I wouldn't change back.
